Beaches, Bounty, and Bali: Bali Tour Groups

Posted: Mar 19, 2011 |Comments: 0 |

Bali is a small island out of 6,000 islands that make up the Indonesian island chain (more like an island cluster). But despite its size, it is home to over 3 million people, and welcomes millions more each year to her shores in the form of tourists, vacationers, and people looking to purchase second homes.

Vacationing in Bali is an experience that many people are eager to live, and experiencing the island as part of a group tour will open doors to you that you wouldn't be able to open yourself. Signing up for a Bali tour is simple, and once you arrive on the island, you meet with the group tour guide, get your beaded lanyard and badge holder (for security and identification purposes), and check into your villa or hotel room.

Now that you're settled, you should know a little bit about the things you might see, hear, smell, taste, and feel while experiencing Bali in a tour group. Grab your sun hat, slip your flip flops onto your feet, and your beaded lanyard and badge holder around your neck, and get ready to meet Bali face to face.

What to Do

Thought Bali is a small island, there is an amazing number of things to do while visiting. There will be several days on your tour in which you can: take scuba or snorkeling lessons, swim with dolphins, paraglide, horseback ride on the beach, go whitewater rafting, visit local markets, feed Macaque monkeys, watch spectacular street performances of evil spirits battling good spirits (Rangda vs. Barong), and shopping at the world class mall in Seminyak. Make sure that while you're participating in these adventures that you have your beaded lanyard and badge holder within reach for ID purposes. In some places, you're required to prove that you are part of the tour group, especially when visit temples or the nature reserve.

Where to Go

Some of the best places to visit while in Bali will most likely be on your tour guide's list of places to visit as a group. There is the Monkey Temple in Ubud that is surrounded by many miles of monkey forests. There is the Pejeng Moon in Ubud, which is the first single cast bronze kettle drum ever made—it dates back to 300 BC and is enormous. There are a few government buildings you can visit for more information on the island's history, but you'll need to present your badge holder and personal ID.

What to Eat

The cuisine in Bali is a mix of flavors from all over Southeast Asia. The Balinese spice their dishes with local herbs and spices, such as: cinnamon (cassia), turmeric, black pepper, coriander, cloves, hot chili peppers, tamarind, and sea salt. Because of its popularity with the Western nations, it has adopted many foreign ingredients into its cuisine, such as: ketchup, red wine, mustard, avocados, chocolate sauce, and limes.

You'll be Back

Once the tour is over, and you place your beaded lanyard lovingly in your suitcase, you can hop online and make a reservation for a different Bali island tour in the next year.
