Cheap Waikiki Hawaii Honeymoon?

Let’s start off with a little reality check, Hawaii is not a cheap place to visit, even with a recession going on there are still a lot of people that want to go to Hawaii. Sure there are some holiday vacation deals that are out there to bring you to Waikiki Hawaii, but you will find that once you get here that the prices are still much higher than the what you would find else where in the USA.  Having said that, there is a reason why Hawaii and Waikiki are famous as tourist destinations and that simple fact is Hawaii is really special. Everyone needs to come here at least once in your life time, and a honeymoon is a perfect time to be here to really enjoy the ocean and attractions.

When looking for budget honeymoon deals stay away from honeymoon specials or wedding deals, as they are going to throw a lot of impulse buys at you, and unless you are highly disciplined, you are probably going to buy a lot of stuff that sounds good, but really doesn’t provide real value.

Staying at one resort can get you a good hotel rate, but they will get it all back and then some if they trap all of your spending. The Outrigger chain has hotels all through out the Hawaiian Islands, and some of the Waikiki hotels they have are good deals.  Do you really need to stay in an ocean front room 25 stories up, or will a hotel one block from the beach offer a lot of the same amenities, but you have to walk a block to the beach and watch the sunset instead of from your balcony. That block in from the ocean can save you 50% or more off the oceanfront rooms!

Rent a car, Hawaii has some of the cheapest car rental rates anywhere around, the best deals are by the week.  You can drive almost all the way around the island of Oahu and it is a big island with lots to see.  They have free visitor magazines all over the place and they have deals on everything that they would offer in a package deal like hula buffets, discount admissions to the cultural shows and submarine rides the visitor magazines have all sots of other stuff as well. With or without a car you can do inexpensive things like Diamond Head Park, the Honolulu Zoo & the Waikiki Aquarium.   You can do a lot of the stuff in Waikiki with out a car even Hanauma Bay, but for the rest of the island you really need a car.

I know this is going to sound crazy, but think about bringing a tent with you and spend a few nights at some of the excellent oceanfront parks on Oahu.  One of my favorite places in the world is Malaekahana State Recreation Area, where the camping areas are on the water, but away road noise they also have some cabins but you need to reserve those most of the time way in advance, which are really beach houses and are fantastic deals. I have stayed there where there were very few people around and had the beach to ourselves.

Be creative and come up with your own honeymoon package and you will save a bunch of money and have a unique to you Hawaiian Honeymoon.

Finding the Very Best Deals on Cheap Hotel Rooms!

By: Fred Tittle | 19/10/2007 | Travel
Many hotels now are giving internet deals if you can find their site; this is good as many times you can get the price lower than the big internet hotel sites. Another benefit of dealing direct with the hotel is that you can ask questions like does the room have a window and can you see more than just an elevator shaft through it! You can also make sure that you get a no smoking room. You could also ask them if they have better rates if you book 3 or more nights. You can also confirm that they will hold the reservation if you are going to arrive after 6PM or maybe you have some other request that normally will not be answered by the big sites.
