Dive into The Beauty Of The Maldives

The achingly beautiful Maldives provide a holiday option resplendent with scenic views and fabulous water sport opportunities, so it's little wonder that they have remained a holiday favourite since they were first discovered as offering an accessible underwater paradise. The Maldives are a destination particularly treasured by diving enthusiasts as the area has some of the world's finest dive spots, but there are plenty of other benefits boasted by these stunning atolls.

Made up of a collection of coral islands grouped into atolls the Maldives are now a republic, though they were once under Dutch and English protection. The temperate climate and clear blue sea surrounding the islands are one of the biggest factors when it comes to drawing tourists towards the Maldives. The tropical climate means that the area is typically warm and sunny but tourists should bear in mind the fact that rainfall tends to drastically increase from April to October.

The Maldives feature a number of resort islands which are very welcoming to tourists and have relaxed rules while non-resort inhabited islands typically follow strict observance of Muslim laws. However, a trip to Male, the capital of the Maldives is a must on any holiday to the area. The city takes up the entire island that houses it and it boasts some great, authentic local markets where you can pick up fresh fish and or a few other bargains.

Other exciting activities to be found off the coast of Male include whale-watching submarine trips and surfing - although the area is recommended for experienced surfers rather than beginners. Those searching for an insight into Maldivian culture can also enjoy trips to the Sultan Park and National Museum, Independence Square and the Friday Mosque.

The Maldives boast many stunning beaches ideal for sun worshipping too, but scuba diving remains one of the most popular attractions for the area, which is famed for the stunning nature of the underwater seascapes it presents divers. Proud to be the home to some of the world's best diving schools, the Maldives are ideal for beginners are expert divers alike.

Flights to Maldives will typically land at the Male International Airport, which is located on the small Hulhule Island located nearby Male although some may land at the Gan Airport on the southern atoll of Addu. From either airport, visitors will be able to travel to their resort or hotel easily with the help of the area's assorted taxi boats and start their scenic trip straight away.

Anyone who is a fan of sea life, water sports or sunbathing will find that the Maldives has something to offer them, making it a holiday destination only fated to become more popular as time goes on.
