Originally a fishing town, Shanghai today is China’s largest city and an epicentre of the nation’s development. The city is located along the banks of the Yangtze River on the central eastern coast of China. For those who prefer a bit more action in the nocturnal activities can make a beeline along the popular Nanjing Road Pedestrian Street, featuring many brightly lit shops and eating houses. Most tea houses in Shanghai are open 24 hours and are busy with patrons round the clock. Nightclubs, discos, Karaoke joints and coffee houses are also quite popular with the younger crowd. Some of these popular hotspots include the ARK Live House music restaurant and bar and the Ven Ice coffee bar. The Hengshan Road was where the city’s first bars were opened and to this day the area boasts of a myriad of bars and taverns thronging with customers.
The Maoming South Road where the Judystoo, Babyface and the Colors and Face clubs are hosted and the fashionable Xin Tian Di area are also popular nocturnal gathering places in Shanghai.
