Discover the Wonders of the Island

There are many places on the island of Aruba to find great sites and fun things to do as a couple or with your whole family.  The primary tourist destinations are in Oranjestad, which is the capitol, and the western Hotel Zone.  However, this does not mean that other towns getting less attention do not deserve a visit as well.  There are some exceptional sightseeing opportunities that can be found when you explore Aruba.  In fact, these highlighted cities not only deliver distinct cultural communities but offer convenient access to several of the island’s most cherished historical and natural landmarks.

A short distance north of Oranjestad is Noord which is the home of Aruba’s most reputed historic edifices.  Santa Anna Church is present here, which is a breathtaking cathedral famous for its hand-carved pieces.  Another church set on a hill just north of Santa Anna Church is the renowned Alto Vista Chapel.  This building is the most photographed man-made structure in all of Aruba because of its stunning exterior and picturesque placement on the hill overlooking the northern shore of the island.  Noord also supplies an easy access route to the California Lighthouse, yet another popularly viewed tourist location viewed by visitors who explore Aruba.

In western-central Aruba, you can find the city of Santa Cruz.  This is a community famous for its close proximity to many outdoor sightseeing venues.  The Natural Bridge, once the most photographed natural element of the island, was located here before its collapse a few years ago.  A few smaller natural bridges still exist that make the area very well worth the visit.  Arikok National Park is a must-see for anyone looking for the best ways to explore Aruba.  The park runs along much of eastern Aruba and comes almost as far west as Santa Cruz.  This is the perfect way to explore the natural elements of the island while enjoying the beautiful view of the Caribbean Sea.

Paradera is set very centrally on the island.  It is located a few miles southeast of Noord and west of Santa Cruz.  This is one of the smaller, lesser known communities in Aruba, but it is not short on outdoor activities.  The Casibari Rock Formations give tourists plenty of reason to pay the city a visit.  As you explore the best places in Aruba, do not neglect to visit the cities that are set away from the coast and enjoy some natural and historical landmarks.
