Famous World Heritage Sites Of India

India is a heritage land and each city of India is dotted with slew of tourist spots that sings the gotha of ancient days. India also has some of the famous World Heritage Sites that makes it stand tall amongst other.

Taj Mahal :
This monument is also amongst the Seven Wonders of the World and commemorate the love of Shah jahan and Mumtaj Mahal. Located in Agra India, Taj Mahal was created in 1631. Taj Mahal was declared a World Heritage Sites in 1631.

Sanchi Stupa:
It is a World Heritage Site and is located 46 kms from Bhopal. This stupendous site is a part of famous Buddhist Circuit in India.

Ajanta Caves:

It is a series of 29 Buddhist Caves in India, encompassing both Theravada and Mahayana Buddhist traditions. Ajanta Caves carries murals and paintings of Buddhists.

Kaziranga National Park:
One of the most famous National Parks of India located in Assam in Northeast India. Kaziranga National Park is known for housing the famous One Horned Rhinos.

Khajuraho Temples :
Located in Central India, Madhya Pradesh, Khajuraho Temples are known for their erotic sculptures. These temples are divided into three groups – Eastern, Western and Southern. The total remaining Khajuraho temples are 22 out of 85.

Gateway of India :

Constructed in Indo-saracenic style, Gateway of India was erected in 1920. This World Heritage Site commemorates the visit of King George V and Queen Mary to Bombay.

Churches Of Goa:
Not many people know that Churches of Goa are counted amongst the World Heritage Sites in India. Some of the famous churches are Basilica of Bom Jeasus, Church of Our Lady of Rosary, Church of St Francis of Assisi.
