For a fun fill family weekend away Port Elliot is a great Choice

The town of Port Elliot can be found in Southern Australia within the Fleurieu Peninsula. It is a very small, quaint town which although has seen some development in recent years has managed to keep its original relaxed nature and the beaches are still relatively quiet so these are just some general snippets of information about visiting the Port Elliot area.

If you happen to be into surfing then you shall be able to find everything you need just to the west of the town at Boomer Beach. It's a extremely popular place and the conditions are pretty much ideal so it is always best to try and get there early when it is perhaps at its quietest.

However, if you are on a family holiday then you should really focus on the part called Horseshoe Bay with its own beaches and access to the sea. It is looked upon as being a very safe area so it is ideal to let the children swim while you can relax on the beach.

Port Elliot is a town which is perhaps best described as containing quaint little cafes and small fancy gift shops scattered around the main shopping areas. It doesn't have anywhere near the same hustle and bustle of the larger towns in the region so it does give you the sense of a far slower pace of life.

When it comes to looking for Port Elliot accommodation you don't have a huge choice with numerous hotels but what you do get is a good selection of holiday accommodation. The price you pay can vary depending on the quality you are looking for but overall the price is not too bad.

One of the best things to do when you are staying here is to spend some time walking along the many coastal paths that have been laid down. It does of course cost you absolutely nothing but it does let you take in a lot of the scenery that is right on the doorstep. It's however best to get some kind of walking guide that shows you the various places you can go and things you can encounter on your walk.

When it comes to eating you aren't going to be inundated with a variety of exotic cuisine from different corners of the world but instead what you do get are good fresh ingredients making you some quality food. Obviously you should try the seafood as you know it is going to be very fresh.

A lot of the area does deal with the sea and various activities on the water along with the beach but it is not all that does exist. It is a nice area for families who are trying to find a quiet break away from it all and at least you know you are not going to be overrun by surfers and wild parties to all hours of the night.
