When You rent an apartment in Sorrento,  during Your stay in Sorrento, You'll realize how beautiful and magic this town is.

The two main Good Friday processions taking place in Sorrento are : the procession of "dell'addolorata"" also know as the procession of thr "Visit to the grave" (Visita ai sepolcri), organized by the Venerable Confraternity of Santa Monica called De' Cinturati, and the procession of the dead Christ, organized by the Venerable Confraternity of Death. The parade is open by a music band playing solemn funeral marches, the music composed by different authors (including Chopin) accompany the slow pace of hooded. The heart of the processions is the choir of the Miserere, a group of about 200 singers that, in the style of Gregorian, sings in Latin the verses of Psalm 50. This tradition was born in Sorrento in 1500, when it was imported from Rome the custom of reciting the Miserere singing it, no longer merely reciting it as they did previously.

The history of penitential processions during the holy week in Sorrento probably began around 1300. It has been known of lay people who were on the streets of the town in the bags wearing a simple cross. An ancient brotherhood of Sorrento was that of Battenti di Sant'Antonino,o Confratrum Frustigantium. The date of its foundation is the 1378; the brothers scourged themself as a sign of penance. This tradition of flagellation was also handed down through the centuries, maintained mainly by 'Confraternity of Death.
