The famouse Universal Studios theme park is going to open a new branch in Beijing. This project is now very important for the Beijing government. The Beijing goverment is planning to build a new subway line - Batongzhixian Line for the Universal Studios project. This subway line will connect the Universal Studios theme park directly with the Station "Tuqiao" and the total length of this subway line is about 1600 meters.
The Universal Studios Beijing theme park will be built by Universal Studios (U.S.) and BEIJING TOURISM GROUP (China). The total investment will be more than 10 billion rmb (about 1.5 billion U.S. dollars). The park will be located in the Liyuan town (In the south of the Tongzhouxincheng), Tongzhou District, Beijing.
Actually, this Universal Studios Beijing project has been planned for several years. At first, the 2 biggest city of China - Beijing and Shanghai are both candidates for the Universal Studios project. Now every one knows that Shanghai will build the Disney theme park and that's why Beijing got the chance to do the Universal Studios project. The Beijing government has put a lot of effort in the preparation of this huge project. It is planning a fixed-asset investment of about 30.5 billion rmb (about 4.5 billion U.S. dollars) in the year of 2009. The Disney theme park and Universal Studios theme park are the two biggest theme parks in the world. The Disney theme park is attractive to the kids in my point of view. Comparing with the Disney theme park, the Universal Studios theme park is more suitable for the entire family. Both the kids and seniors can have fun here in the Universal Studios. It is a combination of the theme park, hotel, restaurant and shopping mall.
