Hanukka at the Dead Sea - Creating Artwork, Hiking and Candle Lighting

Hanukkah is also the holiday of all those creating artwork and hiking by the Dead Sea. The Dead Sea, the lowest place on earth, a candidate in the New7 Wonders of Naturethe competition, invites you to return to ancient times in the primeval desert landscape, and to light a candle for each of the eight days of Hanukkah - surrounded by beautiful canyons and, soaring cliffs – and havea unique desert experience.

Hanukkah is a special holiday; a holiday of singing, light and family. This year, you are invited to light all eight Hanukkah candles at the lowest spot in the world.

  • Throughout the holiday - holidays at the Einot Tzukim Nature Reserve - a prize -awarding photography competition and guided tours - throughout the entire Hanukkah holiday, December 3-9, 2010.

  • Third candle - "Wanderlust" – a nighttime walk, a desert hike through Wadi Salvadora, sleeping in a tent in the Qumran National Park - Friday and Saturday, December 3-4, 2010.

  • Fourth candle - Drive away the dark! - a lantern - tour of the ruins of the ancient town of Qumran - Saturday, December 4, 2010.

  • Fifth candle - a wonderfull hike in Wadi Mashash and the Murba''at Caves - Sunday, December 5 2010.

  • Sixth Candle - Kasser al Yahud (Saint John's Monastery), the Jordan River baptism site - Monday, December 6, 2010.

  • Seventh candle - "Waterfalls and Ladders" in Wadi Og, Tuesday, December 7, 2010.

  • Seventh and eighth candles - "Visit the Creating Artwork at the Dead Sea" crafts fair - in the Qumran National Park, and on the Neveh Midbar Beach - Wednesday and Thursday, December 8-9, 2010.
