James Johnson, Chester is my second home and here is why a cottage holiday will help enhance your stay whether you are looking for a family holiday or group accommodation.
Chester is possibly one of the most loved medieval walled cities within Britain. With plenty to see and do, there is literally something within Chester to suit everyone. Whether you are looking to take in a little culture or whether you simply want to explore everything that the city has to offer, a Chester cottage holiday may be just what you are looking for.
Things to See and do Within Chester
One of the main reasons why people visit Chester is to see the walls around it. It is the city with the most walls still erect and they date back to the Roman times. The city just has a very historic feel to it and it is an interesting and fascinating experience seeing the way it has been designed.
If culture is what you are looking for then you will be pleased with the amount of cultural events held within Chester. There is an annual Chester Music festival which is hosted every summer. Two other cultural events are hosted each summer too and those include the Chester Mystery Plays and the Chester Midsummer Watch Parade. All three events are not to be missed if you plan to visit the city during the summer months.
If you would like to see the whole of Chester then you may want to go on a guided tour. There are a number of tours to choose from including a history tour. This will take you back 2000 years and it will teach you everything you need to know about the history of the city. If you would prefer something slightly more fun then there is a Ghost Hunting tour which takes place in the evening. Whatever you would like to explore, a Chester guided tour could be exactly what ou need.
Another event which is held in Chester each year includes the Chester Food and Drink Festival. It is held every Easter and it provides you with demonstrations, tips and plenty of food and drink to sample. So if you are a food lover then the food festival is definitely not to be missed.
Finally the Chester racecourse is also what attracts thousands of people to the city each year. There are many race days organised throughout the year and there really is no experience like it. You can choose to eat at the racecourse, or you could always take your own picnic if the weather is nice. The best time to visit the racecourse is during the May Festival and in August there is always a family fun day organised.
Overall Chester is a fantastic, medieval city which draws in thousands of tourists each year. There is plenty to see and do and what better way to experience it all than with a Chester Cottage Holiday?
