If You Are Intending to Staycation This Year, Head to London!

According to statistics, the number of people set to holiday at home is rising. Indeed, in an attempt to save cash, many are shunning trips abroad to discover the home grown delights available in and around the UK. And, with its selection of stunning scenery, variety of attractions and colourful cultural diversity, they won’t be left disappointed.

Take London as a prime example. A great alternative to visiting the historic cities of Europe or the bustling metropolis that is New York, London offers the visitor a place bursting with intrigue and excitement. In fact, it was heralded as the capital of the 21st century by New York Magazine, which recognises the city as a major global player, both in terms of culture and business.

So, if you’re looking to take a ‘staycation’ this summer, what better place to head to than London? In addition to boasting some of the best weather in Britain, there is a plethora of activities to do and sights to see that are guaranteed to keep you on your toes. Not only that, but the city is also home to a huge number of parks and lidos, meaning you can escape from the noise of the city, without having to hit the road.

Renowned for its shopping opportunities, those looking to indulge in some retail therapy won’t be left disappointed. Housing the longest shopping street in the world – Oxford Street – as well offering up an enormous array of famous department stores and high street shops, there is something to cater to everyone’s fashion tastes. There is also an assortment of street markets and stalls to wander around which are great for picking up some unusual bargains.

Probably its most prominent area, London’s West End is also a definite must-see. As well as offering up one of the largest theatre districts globally, there are plenty of places of interest to excite the senses. For instance, why not take a walk through Soho or Covent Garden, or live it up in the elegant surroundings of Mayfair?

London’s gastronomic contributions are also not to be sniffed at. Due to the cultural diversity present in the city – over 300 languages are spoken here – there is a huge range of tasty treats and sumptuous eateries to be found. Angel is a distinguished area to head to, with more bars and restaurants housed here than any other street in the UK.

Furthermore, the city’s range of accommodation options is unparalleled. From London hotels to youth hostels and self-catering apartments, it is possible to find something to suit your requirements. And, due to the fact the city has the most extensive transport system in the world, it is easy to get from A to B without having to work too hard!
