India is a secular country respecting every religion, culture and tradition. No matter whether you are a Hindu or Muslim, Indian constitution has permit for each and everyone to follow their faith. Although Muslims in India are considered to be a minority community, they also have several pilgrimage destinations in India. If you are a Muslim residing outside India and want to spend some time in peace, then visiting India is the best option. Muslims can come to India to worship within the country.

Let’s trace back to the ancient times, when Mughals arrived in India. They started a new religion Islam which got spread across the country. The rulers of the Mughal dynasty had created some carved mosques and dargahs in several parts of the country. They constructed them as a gesture of thanks to holy saints who had given them blessings of prosperity and well being.

Let’s throw some light on some of the famous Muslim pilgrimage places which you can visit while travel to India.

Jama Masjid in Delhi- It is located in old Delhi near Red Fort and Chandni Chowk. It is one of the biggest mosques in India which was constructed by Mughal emperor Shah Jahan. It is originally called as ‘Masjid-i-Jahanuma’ or “mosque commanding view of the world”. It is the perfect example of magnificent Mughal architecture. The Mughal emperor Shah Jahan spent around Rs 10 Crore to build this extra ordinary mosque. Jama Masjid also contains great collection of valuable items like hair of the beard of Hazrat Muhammad, a chapter of Koran taken from its original holy book, foot print of Muhammad on the stone and many other precious things.

Fatehpur Sikri- Fatehpur Sikri is also one of the best pilgrimage places for Muslims. It is located just 37 km from the city of Agra. This place has two sacred places which are Dargah of Sheikh Salim Chisti and Jami Masjid.

Ajmer-e-Shariff- It is located near holy town Pushkar. This is famous for the tomb of Hazrat Moinuddin Chisti. People all across the globe come here to pay their homage during the six day long Urs festival.

Haji Ali’s mosque- This pilgrimage place is located in the middle of the sea and was built in honor of Muslim saint Haji Ali. It is the most visited pilgrimage place by muslims.
