Is Paris Great For A Weekend Holiday?

Paris is one of the premier capitals of the world especially the romantic amongst us,ideally situated along the banks of the river Seine. Many couples decide to take short stay in Paris as it is probably the most romantic city in the world, most people promise to return as so much they wanted to see will have been missed.

It is known for its wonderful buildings, style, excellent food and wine, plus sights like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre and many other places that are havens for tourists, both home grown and international. Traveling around Paris is relatively easy for visitors as well as locals, the underground train system or Metro can take you to anywhere within the city and is simple to use.

It wouldn't be possible to visit this city without a trip to the top of the famous steel structure known as the Eiffel Tower, it's visible throughout most of the city but the views from the top of this huge steel structure are even more impressive. You can be assured of an even more beautiful sight if you visit in the evening when it is illuminated, guided tours are available where the patriotic tour guides give you an in depth history and an insight to what it is to be French.

If you plan on spending some of your traveler's checks in Paris, then a trip down the Champs Elysees is an essential part of a trip, if you want to see famous, designer label shops and the restaurants, this is the place. This is considered a more exclusive and busy area of the city, it is also where most of the five star hotels are situated but thankfully hotels tend to be cheaper once you move away from the city center.

The city's famous museum, the Louvre is huge and worth a visit if you have the time, it houses over three hundred thousand exhibits but not all of them are ever on display at the same time. There are so many exhibits here they cannot all be viewed during a short stay in Paris, some of the most important art collections in the world are here including Leonardo da Vinci's world famous Mona Lisa. Paris has always been a magnetic destination for artists, many of whom left large collections of their paintings here like Monet and Picasso.

Paris is also the home of the equally famous Arc de Triomphe which Napoleon had constructed in the early part of the 19th century, it provides visitors with a wonderful photo experience because it contains the names of every one of his generals. A little known fact is that there's a viewing observatory built into the building allowing the whole area to be viewed; it is located in Place Charles de Gaulle where twelve of the city's main avenues start, including Avenue de Champs Elysees.

Obviously, these are not the only places to visit; these are however, the most popular with regular tours arranged, many of which are either free or at a subsidized cost. It is fair to say that you won't see everything on a Paris short stay of two or even three day break, anything that's missed will have to take a rain check.
