Monastir - A Tunisian paradise

Monastir is a Tunisian city in the North East of the country. It is growing in popularity as a prime beach holiday destination, with its balmy Mediterranean weather and just a short transfer from the airport. The beach offers an extensive stretch of fine white sands fading gently into the crystal clear turquoise waters.

Temperatures in the area hit the mid 30°s during the peak of the summer months, whilst staying mild throughout the winter. Whilst Monastir holidays centre on the seafront with its modern marina and its surrounding restaurants offering the finest international cuisine, the presence of a well preserved 9th century city and fortress provide an interesting slant over a traditional beach holiday.

Monastir holidays tend to focus around the beaches and marina, but towards the old town there are many splendid pavement café's and more budget friendly restaurants serving local cuisine with a more traditional flavour, these offer a true representation of local specialities. Thankfully most places accept Euros, even though the official currency is the Tunisian Dinar.

At Monastir, you'll find that as with many tourist resorts the flourishing beaches offer a wide array of water sport activities. It is perfect for water sport enthusiasts with facilities for paragliding, windsurfing, scuba diving, jet skiing and much more. The area is particularly popular amongst Brits because of this, and with flights leaving daily from most UK airports Monastir is becoming very Brit friendly.

Monastir is relatively small, so transport is never a problem. Everything is linked by either road, train, buses or the abundance of cheap taxis which are always available. The best beaches can be found in the areas of Skanes and Dkhila, and these are only a few miles outside of Monastir itself.

Holidays in Monastir are perfect for sun worshippers, and top the charts of Tunisia holidays. For the cheapest Monastir holidays try a price comparison website.
