Places Of Interest To Visit On Your Holidays In Kenya

Kenya is a great country to visit on your holiday if you love the great outdoors. It is home to some of the best wildlife in the world and has a diverse range of countryside. The Great African Rift Valley is a major attraction in Kenya. The valley stretches over 3,600 miles across the African continent. It was created when the African and Arabian tectonic plates drifted and separated, 35 million years ago.

The valley houses glaciers, volcanoes, lakes, depressions and offers many breathtaking sights. It is also ideal for rock climbing, mountain biking, trekking and hiking. The wildlife parks in the Great African Rift Valley are a wildlife enthusiasts delight and possesses a unique ecosystem.

Yet another famous attraction is the Samburu Game Reserve. The Reserve is situated just above the equator and covers a sprawling 325 km. It is located in the northern part of Nairobi and is a popular and significant national park in Kenya. The Reserve is renowned for its varied and rich flora and fauna.

It is home to many endangered species of birds, wildlife and vibrant people of Samburu. Rare animals like Reticulated Giraffe, Zebra, Gerenuk and Beisa Oryx can be spotted in the reserve. The reserve also houses around 300 bird species. The jeep safaris offered at the reserve is an enthralling experience.

The second largest freshwater lake in the world is Lake Victoria. It stretches over 67,483 square kilometres and is unrivalled for its natural splendour, rich variety of bird and fish population. A bird watchers and fishing enthusiast's haven, colourful fish like Shoals and Nile Perch and birds like Bee-eaters, Swamp Flycatchers, Warblers and Sunbirds can be spotted near the lake. Sunsets are captivating, canoe tours are enthralling.

The Western highlands are another attraction of Kenya. It is the agricultural heartland of Kenya and is located to the north of the Great African Rift Valley. Exquisite and stunning mountain scenery, lush green tea plantations and rich flora and fauna characterizes this region. Hill ranges, valleys, waterfalls, lakes and plains captivate the tourists to the region.

Mt. Kenya is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and is the highest mountain of Kenya. It is the second highest mountain in Africa. It has been announced as an International Biosphere Reserve by UNESCO. An expedition to Mt. Kenya can be adventurous and one can find an array of snow-capped peaks, cliffs, waterfalls, glaciers, valleys, slopes, alpine meadows and thick green forests that cover the landscape. The mount is rich with unique flora and fauna.

Kenya offers something to everyone, be it a nature enthusiast, adventure lover or wildlife enthusiast. Kenya is a unique combination of the old and new, since Kenya is an ancient Swahili country and a cosmopolitan country also. A visit to Kenya offers a rich experience to a person, since the country welcomes everyone with diverse offerings.

Kenya is great to visit - including the "Caves of god" in Namanga hills my first time to visit i was very skeptical but after visiting i see why, - you get reconnected with nature and its worht a visit you have to climb the mountains - not soo tuff but if i managed you can
