Similar to its colourful and precious gems and stones, Brunei has the abundant attractions in terms of exotic and one of a kind tourist spots. It has all the variations of ancient reserves and ancient treasures. It has a number of untamed and untainted ancient beauties.

Let us explore the Kampong Ayer or the Water Village. Kampong Ayer is often described by early European visitors as the Venice of the East. The traditional and historic houses on stilts that span the greater part of the Brunei River are fascinating. Home to about 30, 000 people, the Kampong Ayer is accessible by boat or via wooden bridges from the houses in Kampong Ayer, they are joined by a maze of inert-connecting wooden walkways. It is said to be the largest collection of stilt habitations in the world. Most would say a visit to Brunei Darussalam would be incomplete without a trip to this unique and intriguing place.

Another interesting keeper of ancient beauties of Brunei is the Arts and Handicraft Centre, which is situated alongside the Brunei River. Sarongs that are traditionally made and intricately designed are woven here using gold or silver threads. These sarongs are worn on ceremonial occasions and have been for centuries, they are valued as heirlooms and collectors pieces. The Centre also sells hand-made silver jewellery and artefacts.

One of its interesting and intriguing beach attractions is the Crocodile beach or the Meragang Beach. It is located along the highway towards Muara. Unsure as to where the name Crocodile beach came from as you certainly won't find any crocodiles here. Instead, the beach is a peaceful spot to enjoy the sea breeze and familiarise yourself with the expatriate community in the country. It is a 15 minute drive from the city of Jalan Berakas and can be used by all tourists.

The captivating and splendid Labi longhouses are one of the many attractions in Brunei. These are long houses, unique only in Bormeo, used as a dwelling by the settlers. It is a village under one roof. The long houses consist of a row of family houses with a communal area running the length of the building. Aside from this site, several of these long houses lead into the jungle. It leads you to the scenic waterfalls and hills in primary forest. These trails are relatively undemanding and guides are not necessary.

The Ulu Temburong National Park is popular to many wildlife loving tourists. The area is rich in biodiversity. There are tree houses about 20 meters high which are connected by hanging bridges. It gives tourists a breath taking experience whilst walking through these hanging bridges. River and mountain scenery provide panoramic views. There is also a forest canopy walkway, giving both scientists and tourist an opportunity to explore the upper layers of the forest which are so rich in life.
