The Overholser Mansion Museum on 405 Northwest 15th Street is worth checking out as it is a time capsule taking you back to the “Spirit of the 1889’ers.” Built for Henry Overholser, a leading figure in the history of the city, the Overholser Mansion was completed in 1903. Visitors to the three-story home built like a chateau can check out the architecture of the time. The mansion features the original fixtures and furnishings, walls of painted ornate canvas, period Axminster and Wilton carpets, and stained glass.

The Oklahoma City National Memorial on 620 N Harvey is more significant than the other places to visit in OKC. Located on the site of the Alfred P. Murrah Building that was bombed on April 19, 1995, the Memorial honors the individuals who lost their lives in the bombing. Open all year, this symbolic memorial gives valuable insights into the loss felt, as well as the power of the city to rise again from the ashes. Admission is free.

The Oklahoma City Museum of Art on 415 Couch Drive is a destination visitors shouldn’t miss. Located in the Donald W. Reynolds Visual Arts Center, the 110,000 sq. ft. museum consists of 15 exhibition galleries, a theater with 250 seats, education center, café, store and resource center. The museum hosts traveling exhibitions, film programs and plenty of other activities. The most representative work of art in the museum is the 55 ft. glass sculpture by Dale Chihuly.

There’s so much to see here. What’s more, plenty of family events are held periodically. Picnic areas, food court, gift shop, and wheelchair and stroller rental are also offered.
