Sentosa Golf Club: Where Sport Meets Pleasure

Declared open by former Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew in 1974, the Sentosa Golf Club is one of Singapore’s most popular golf clubs. The club boasts of a membership that extends to over 1, 500 people and includes those of the calibre of foreign and local politicians. The club is also at the centre of gatherings of Singapore’s niche circle of high society celebrities.

Leaving its membership aside it is also the host of Asia’s biggest National Golf Tournament which is the Barclays Singapore Open. It is at international tournaments like this that Asian and European players meet on the green.

The club offers two championship golf courses which are both 18 hole courses. The course offers magnificent views at every hole while making the most of Sentosa’s natural beauty and heritage.

The Serapong and Tanjong golf courses offer amazing views of either the Singapore Harbour or the South China Sea. Frank Pennick was responsible for the designing of the Tanjong course which opened in 1972. However, in 1995 the course was remodelled by Max Wexler who was a course designer together with course architect Chris Pitman.

Although the Serapong was designed by Ronald Fream and declared open in 1982, it was overhauled and lengthened by Gene Bates at the Bates Gold Design Group in 2007.

The club is located a few minutes away from Singapore’s city centre and set amid natural forestry on the island of Sentosa which is 15 minutes from the business district and famous Orchard Road. Travellers arriving from mainland Singapore will find the Club at just a 5 minutes drive from the Sentosa bridge.

Tourists staying at a Sentosa Island hotelwill find it easier to get about on the Sentosa Island resort. Those staying over at the Sentosa Resort and Spa could be guaranteed of a luxury resort Singapore style pampering.
