Shopping in Bangkok – Explore the shoppers’ wonderland

From bargaining piazzas to luxurious shopping malls – Bangkok, the Capital of Thailand features countless shopping opportunities, offering you and your family an enjoyable shopping adventure.

The biggest piazza in Bangkok namely the Chatuchak market is also the world’s biggest weekend market, only operating on Saturdays and Sundays. The market covers an area of a 35 acre land and claims to have about 15,000 stalls selling an overwhelming range of items from fresh produce to arts and crafts and trendy clothing to electronics and so much more. It won’t be a surprise to know that it is frequented by a sheer 200,000 visitors every weekend.

Do you like to save while buying? Then do not forget to visit Klong Toey Market, where they sell fresh seafood, farm produce and raw meat along with cut-rate fashions and other goods for a surprisingly nominal price. If a spick and span supermarket is your ultimate shopping venue, head towards Or Tor Kor – the open-air supermarket offering a plethora of top quality goods for an amazing economical price.

For a bona fide Thai-shopping experience, you can drive to the northern outskirts of Bangkok where Saphan Mai market rests. This bazaar is more spacious, offering a wide spectrum of Thai produce catering mainly to the local inhabitants. Another similar market both pristine and spacious with a Thai ambience is Minburi market located close to Lad Phrao Road, famous for its fresh vegetables and an assortment of groceries and other goods.

If you are looking for an extravagant shopping spree, then the air-conditioned multi-storey shopping complexes of Bangkok will best suit your interests.

Central World – the largest lifestyle shopping complex in Southeast Asia is located in between the Siam and Chitlom BTS stations. It houses more than 500 department stores, the sophisticated SF World Cinema, over 50 restaurants, various spas, a Kids’ Zone as well as a Learning Centre.

Another mega mall is the MBK Shopping Center, sited on Phayathai Road in Pathumwan, housing 2,000 shops featuring high-end fashions and accessories, furnitures, mobiles, electronics, leather products as well as DVDs among a plethora of items.

To shop for merchandise, you can also visit Siam Paragon Shopping Centre - a 5-floor complex featuring 250 designer brands both local and international. There is also The Emporium – a very popular shopping destination on the Sukhumvit Road in Bangkok. The Emporium offers some of the world renowned designer labels in addition to trendy leather products, exquisite jewelry, arts and crafts, textiles as well as fine dining options, all under one roof.

By spending your holiday at one of the Bangkok serviced apartments you can visit other shopping hotspots including Siam Center, Erawan, Gaysorn, Amarin Plaza, Siam Discovery and Peninsula Plaza. You can also opt for staying at a Bangkok Sukhumvit hotel and visit the popular shopping malls and markets dotting the Sukhumvit artery as well as its adjoining Sois (streets). These cozy Bangkok serviced apartments and Bangkok Sukhumvit hotels offer luxury abodes teeming with contemporary amenities topped with a range of palatable cuisines.
