The Grand Palace – Was once the home of royalty

Bangkok has been on the top of the list for most travellers. With its high-end malls, entertainment districts, exotic nightlife, endless shopping and leisure activities, this South East Asian country is more than meets the eye. There is much to be appreciated about this tropical paradise, from back-packers to celebrities and business tycoons; Bangkok serves it up any which way you want it.

Perhaps the most visited of all Bangkok attractions is The Grand Palace. Built in 1782, this landmark attraction has been the home of various Thai Kings for over 150 years, and is a proud testament to the craftsmanship and creativity of the Thai people.

Inside the compounds of The Grand Palace lay several things to see, one that is most notable is the Temple of the Emerald Buddha (Wat Phra Kaew). This temple contains a small statue of Lord Buddha in emerald that is said to originate from the 14th century. The robes of this statue are changed seasonally by the King of Thailand, which is a celebratory event in the Thai calendar. The Grand Palace is still host to many celebrations of the royal family.

The landscaped gardens, statues and intricate design spread across the entirety of the palace speak of a bygone era of Thailand. The Grand Palace is beautiful and is also recognised as the spiritual heart of Thailand. Take time to explore this wonderful attraction that is located on Na Phra Lan Road, Bangkok. A word of caution prior to visiting the palace, tourists are expected to dress conservatively when visiting this attraction.

Visiting The Grand Palace in Bangkok is an ideal way in which tourists can truly appreciate the history, architecture and royalty of Thailand. Tourists wishing to explore the many popular attractions in Bangkok will find Compass Hospitality on Sukhumvit a convenient choice. Providing some of the best apartments in Bangkok, Compass Hospitality is a great choice for leisure and business travellers alike. Enjoy the seamless service and exceptional facilities of these popular Bangkok apartments on your next trip.
