Traveling to Costa Del Sol

The south of Spain is well known due to its fantastic weather, history, and its holiday resorts as Costa del Sol. This lovely coast in the province of Malaga which belongs to Andalucia has 150 Km of Mediterranean coast.

Popular holiday resorts in Costa del Sol are Nerja, Benalmadena, Fuengirola, Mijas, Torremolinos and Marbella where kilometers of sandy beaches and Mediterranean water satisfy thousand of tourists every year.

Costa del Sol has become a frequently visited destination for British, German, Scandinavian and French people during the last 60 years, contributing to increase the tourism industry as well as the economy and demography in this area. For them the term holiday lettings in Spain is much more than usual since this is a common way to spend their holidays in this country. It is not difficult for a north European foreigner in Spain to keep on buying Scandinavian food products, as well as enjoying the evenings at the English or Irish pubs.

Actually, Costa del Sol is the most developed Mediterranean coast, where the old small villages have grown up and become modern.

Who can enjoy Costa del Sol?

Families with children can definitely enjoy amusement parks, aquaparks, safaris, karts, and the pleasure of sailing in a renting boat at Puerto Marina in Benalmadena.

Young people enjoy the beach and the night life in Puerto Marina and Puerto Banus in Marbella, the fancy area of Malaga province.

But in fact it is the elder people who prefer to spend a great part of the year walking through the typical Andalucian little streets and getting rid off the cold winter up in the north. They are the sweet image of Costa del Sol, which repeats year after year. They were probably those who 40 years ago experienced a holiday in Spain and thought that this was the place they wanted to spend their elderly while they were pensioners. Today, many of them have bought a villa in Benalmadena, Mijas or Frigiliana making their dreams come true. Others fly to Costa del Sol and live for a couple of months in a rental apartment where they feel like at home, with a difference of climate.

Due to the amount of foreign people set in the coast, lots of international schools host children from different nationalities, especially English and Scandinavian, so that they fit better in the educational system.

When the opportunities are so good, I understand why they say they love Spain.
