Florida enjoys a prime spot on the coast of America. It is to the south of the country and exists on a small peninsula, giving it a lot of coastline for visitors and inhabitants to enjoy.
Given this advantage, it isn’t surprising that there are lots of separate areas within Florida that are worth visiting. One of the most famous is Cape Canaveral, where the Kennedy Space Centre is situated.
The Space Centre was named after the former president John F Kennedy and if you are lucky and you time your visit just right, you might even see a shuttle or rocket launch from the centre.
Even if you can’t get the timings right there is still plenty to do and look forward to on a visit to the Space Centre. Among other things you can see a life sized replica of one of the space shuttles.
If you would rather stay on terra firma and enjoy some of the many beaches that Florida has to offer, head for Daytona Beach instead. The beach itself is enough to keep many people occupied, but if you want to get more active you could visit the Daytona Beach Golf Club and challenge your handicap in stunning surroundings.
There is also the Daytona 500 Experience if you love NASCAR racing and you’d like to get up close to the action. You can even have a go at seeing how quickly you can complete the pit stop challenge.
Some people think Florida is full of big name attractions, rides and similar venues, but it is good to know there is a lot more than this on offer as well.
One of the best of all is arguably Key West. It has the distinction of being the furthest point to the west of Florida, and the drive out there alone is well worth it. Once you arrive you can enjoy any number of water sports in one of the most attractive locations in all of Florida. The area is famous for its dolphin encounters, and there are several companies that will make this a reality for you.
Trolley tours are the best way to get to know the area when you first arrive. They are very similar to normal bus tours in that you buy a ticket for the day and hop on and off at the pre-designated points.
As you can see there are plenty of locations you could use as a base for your holiday in Florida. What’s more, Florida flights can be booked from many locations, so wherever you live you can soon be on your way to one of the most memorable holidays you will ever take.
