There are some great stock sites that need all kinds of photographs. We are talking hundreds of thousands of photographs that are needed! First, we have to know exactly what "Stock Photography" is, so I went over to Wikipedia to get the definition:
"Stock Photography consists of existing photographs that can be used for specific uses. Publishers, magazines, advertising agencies, filmmakers, web designers, graphic artists, corporate creative groups, and many other entities use stock photography to fulfill the needs of their creative assignments. Someone who uses stock photography instead of hiring a photographer can save time and money. Stock photographs are presented in searchable online databases, and are delivered via download or email."
Now, that we know what stock photography is we can proceed with how to sell photos online. You need to go to the various stock sites and familiarize yourself with the types of photographs that are selling. After you have done this, you can go through your hard drive and separate the "good" photographs. The good photographs are considered to be clear, good coloring and shot from at least a 2 mega pixel camera. You will then need to create an account at the various sites and upload your photographs. There is no fee for uploading your photos. Remember once these are uploaded they are there for the world to see, but you will retain full ownership rights..
Once your images are approved you will have to give them a title and assign some keywords. The keyword step is probably the most important because that is how people will find your photographs when they do a search. So remember to assign good, descriptive keywords to every photograph.
