Elevators for the Home Can be Expensive, But There is an Alternative

Residential elevators are a great addition to any multi-story home. Elevators for the home not only increase the value of the home but if you or your loved one is handicapped it makes the home much more accessible.

Home elevators are very safe, durable and virtually maintenance free. All of us will get older; installing a home elevator system helps by eliminating the need to move if and when it does get hard for you to move around as freely as you are used too.

Not only do home elevator systems make your house accessible for all, but they can be built with great beauty. Elevators can actually add some creative style to your home.

Most companies who build home elevator systems also build other great systems for those who are handicapped, such as stair lifts and wheelchair lifts. One of the leading companies to manufacture these great products is Otis. Otis is actually the largest manufacturer, installer, and repairer of elevators, escalators, moving walkways and other transportation systems.

The cost of a home elevator system varies depending on the company you choose, the model you choose, etc. A ball park figure would be around $19,000.00 starting out. This figure is not much considering the fact that installing a home elevator usually increases the value of the home by 10% and with the added mobility it is definitely worth the investment.

An elevator for the home can sound very dangerous. Surprisingly, these systems are very safe. The home elevator has been around for a while now and has been perfected. These systems are put together to last more than a lifetime.

If $19,000. seems like too much money, don't worry, that is just a ball park figure, there are other models that can be found for a cheaper price. However, there is a possible cheaper alternative to the home elevator. Stair lifts mount to your stairs providing the same access ability to your home for possibly a lower price.
