Joint Pain Causes: Osteoarthritis, Sprains and Fractures

Underlying Causes

There are many underlying joint pain causes that might bring about different levels of complications. Improper nutrition might not be the primary cause of joint pain but it might contribute immensely to the exacerbation of the problem. The activities that we carry out on a daily basis are often very stressing in nature. When our bodies are malnourished, they might become adversely affected and recovery might take a very long time.

Joint pain as a result of osteoarthritis has never been clearly understood. Mane people attribute it to ageing. Metabolic functioning of the body, genetics, mechanical and chemical factors, all can have some part to play in occurrence of osteoarthritis. Almost everyone exhibits symptoms that are similar to those of osteoarthritis by the time they are 70 years old.

For people who are below 55, osteoarthritis occurs at the same rate in both sexes. After this age, the problem becomes more prevalent in women than in men. In this condition, joint pain causes are understood to be cartilage complications. Bony spurs easily form in bones.

Joint Pain As A Result Of Sprains and Fractures

Joint pain causes due to sprains are also very common today in all groups of people. Sprains form whenever a ligament is torn or stretched too far in an injury. The flexible fibrous ligaments that ensure that bones are always held together can very painful for quite sometime when a dislocation has taken place.

During a sprain, the joint is made to move in a position that is not natural. When an ankle becomes ‘twisted’, the resulting injury is usually a sprain. The injury might require medical attention. Basically, many joint pain causes as a result of sprain might be easy to understand and treat. Not many painkillers can work against this debilitating pain, which can be very traumatizing at the beginning.

Many people will tell you that the most dreaded of all joint pain causes are fractures. When a split occurs in a bone as a result of excessive pressure, it is referred to as a fracture. If the resulting fracture has punctured the skin, it is referred to as a compound fracture. If it has not punctured the skin, it is simply referred to as a simple fracture. When the fracture occurs near a joint, the resulting joint pain causes the victim to be facing a double tragedy.

The joint pain causes in recent times have been associated with arthritis, a medical condition that incorporates many conditions that share the same symptoms but which are treated using slightly varying forms of treatment.
