Sinusitis is a very common problem these days, mainly due to high pollution levels that lead to infections. To deal with sinusitis it is important to understand and use the correctsinusitis treatment as per the severity of the disease. Sinusitis is basically referred to swelling of the sinuses that is caused due to fungal, bacterial, or viral infection. The sinuses are air filled cavities in the skull bone located behind the nasal bones, eyes, forehand and cheeks. The blockage of sinus or the swelling in the skull happens because of inflammation of mucus membranes. To avoid bacteria and germs mucus has to be drained out so that there is good circulation of air in the body. Sinus can become problematic, if you smoke, have cold, allergies, flu or if the shape of nose is not normal, which may result in preventing you from breathing comfortably.

Sinusitis Symptoms include running nose; headache; sinus pain and pressure around eyes or cheeks; swelling of face and excessive sneezing. Normally, it takes eight days for the sinusitis to be treated on its own. However, if the infection is linked with bacterial infection, then it may take more time to overcome the problem of sinusitis. In that case, the best option is to rely on homemade treatment to get rid of regular sinus infection.

Natural herbs and home remedies are an effective sinusitis treatment. You should also take steam inhalation regularly to open the blockage of sinus so that you can breathe properly. Using saline nasal spray also helps in sinusitis as it acts as an effective decongestant. However, decongestant nasal sprays should be used on doctor's advice. It can be made at home as well by mixing one table spoon of salt in pint of warm water; you should put 2 to 3 drops of it in each nostril.

As, everyone says that prevention is better than cure you should try some precautions to keep sinusitis symptoms at bay. There are many ways to prevent sinusitis. Change in the weather can cause sinus infection as air pollution contains dust particles. So, try to avoid going out in polluted areas as much or simply use handkerchief or masks. Quit smoking, as it aggravates the problem. One must avoid drinking alcohol as the blood vessels are swelled and there are higher chances of infection due to less drainage leading to more pain. It is very easy to catch sinus these days, but the precautionary measures will help you to prevent yourself from sinus infection.
