There is a strong connection between the formation of acid reflux and diet. Anything that exists in your body has a balance. In fact, the human body is often referred to as the miracle of various systems that work towards maintaining the required conditions in order to function as needed.

Hence, the experts support the acidic balance or equilibrium of the body. It is the duty of the stomach to modulate the digestion of acid with enzymes that results in conversation of acids into alkaline substances that can be easily managed.

However, this is not the case every time. Sometimes, there is an over-production of acid that’s induced by different wrong and unfavorable lifestyle choices such as smoking and overeating. This eventually results in acid reflux. If this condition remains unchecked, one may also develop an acid reflux disease.

Fortunately, one can easily improve acid reflux and diet via introducing certain lifestyle changes.

One of the best and the most crucial things one can do to eliminate heartburn is to stay away from certain foods. Here, most health care experts recommend a diet that is low in acid and high in alkaline or basal substances. Most food choices can aggravate digestion and act as catalyst for acid reflux. These foods include the following:

a)      Chocolate

b)      Tomato sauce, Catsup based foods

c)      Onions, Chillies

d)      Caffeinated beverages

e)      Foods with loads of cheese

f)       Citrus fruits

g)      Alcohol

h)      Mint

i)       Fried foods

j)       Fatty foods

There are certain heartburn-friendly foods that you need to eat. These foods are low in fat and also spice free.

Here are some heartburn-friendly food choices:

a)      Multigrain breads, Oat meal, Bran, Cereal, Corn bread

b)      Bananas, Apples, Apple dried

c)      Broccoli, Greens, Carrots, Cabbage, Green beans, Jelly beans, Peas

d)      Egg whites

e)      Lean cuts of grilled meat, Extra lean ground beef, Steak

f)       Low fat salad dressing, Low fat cheese

g)      Fat free cookies, Baked potato chips

h)      Skinless chicken breast

i)       Fish

j)       Fat free cream cheese, Fat free sour cheese, Fat free soy cheese

k)      Brown rice, White rice, Rice cakes

l)        Mineral water, Apple juice

The best thing to do is to create a food diary and keep track of what you eat for about 2 or 3 weeks. Thereafter not each time you get an experience of heartburn. So as to avoid the foods that disturb you. Be conscious about the calories you take and try to stay away from fatty or fried stuff. It is very important to eat slow and drink a lot of water.

Making certain changes in your daily eating habits can create magic when it comes to eliminate acid reflux and enhancing your overall health.

Now, it time to say good bye to acid reflux and welcome a good and improved health in your life.
