So why do acne scars come about? Well acne scars are the result of tissue being lost or damaged. There's some good methods offered but prevention is by far the best treatment. By taking action at the start and reducing the possible chance the skin will scar later on.

Acne scaring comes in different shapes and sizes.

Below are a list of four kinds of acne scaring.

- Rolling scars (usually wider than 4mm)

- Hypertrophic scars

- Ice pick scars(1-2 mm across)

- Box car scars

Acne scaring that the most individuals develope are the hollow kind.

There are individuals who suffer with keloids, this is as the tissue heals this is when there's excess tissue created as the skin heals leaving a raised mark.

Individuals with Keloids may find they run in the family and that removal is harder than for depressed scaring.

Acne Scar Treatments

Before treatments are used any active acne you already have should be dealt with first.

The correct removal techniques will depend on the kind of scaring to be treated and the kind of skin of the individual.

For example. Acne scars that are shallow, saucer shaped can be treated with filler materials. There are several available that'll help build up and level off the scar tissue.

More treatments for inverted acne scaring are chemical peeling, Microdermabrasion, dermabrasion, surgery, laser,.

The removal procedure of keloids chemical peels aren't generally used but steroids can be incorporated by injecting them into the raised area.

The technique of Dermabrasion has many different uses including freckles, tattoos, pre-cancerous skin growths (keratoses), facial scaring, age spots, frown lines and wrinkles, skin pigmentation, sun damage, post surgery marks, acne spot and other acne scars.

There's several lasers on the market including the Pixel Laser Affirm Laser, and Fraxel Laser. Laser treatment has replaced many other procedures as it's become more advanced.

Laser resurfacing treatment results in less problems for hypopigmentation as it removes skin very precisely, one layer at a time and is often combined with other procedures.

But before you commit to any treatment you need to discuss your own situation with a Dermatologist who can assess you and let you know what procedures are suitable for you and the results that can be expected.

So the good news is you don't have to put up with your acne scars as they can usually be treated by a dermatologist or dermatologic surgeon.
