Agoraphobia Definition - How Agoraphobia Was Derived?

Agoraphobia definition has two versions. The first definition says that agoraphobia is a type of anxiety disorder attributed by the fear of a wide open space. The word agoraphobia comes from the Greek word "agora" that means  marketplace. The word phobia on the other hand is primarily known as fear. The combination of these two words would then give you "fear of marketplace" as definition. This version of agoraphobia definition clearly stressed this condition as an abnormal fear of unknown place, situation, acquaintance, or other activities that makes a person want to escape from.

As time goes by agoraphobia definition has  also connected to other anxiety disorders such as panic attack and social anxiety in progression of avoidance behavior. The diversion of  agoraphobia definition is considerably another story in relation to the original version. The new version of agoraphobia definition states that agoraphobia is a a condition with the implication of the fear of falling out of control emotionally and physically  in the instance of being in a situation or place where panic attacks and escape may be difficult and may also be embarrassing.

The gravity of agoraphobia varies from case to case. Other people with agoraphobia live normally by means of keeping themselves away from any anxiety-provoking situations or to stay off from places where there are so many people. This later on make them  relatively homebound /bedbound. Some also favor to lock themselves just to stay away from the feeling of intense fear.
