AIDS Life Cycle Fundraiser

Posted: Jun 03, 2010 |Comments: 0 |

Last night (6/02/10) I went roller skating in Redwood City to help raise money for AIDS Life Cycle participants from UC Berkeley.  First of all, I would like to say that all of the people skating were absolutely fabulous.  It was seriously like an outtake from Blades of Glory.  Everyone was spinning and skating gracefully around the rink.  By the way, every Wednesday night at the roller rink in Redwood City, CA hosts a fabulous LGBT skate night (Rainbow Skate).

As a company, Pink Spots donated $200 in gift certificates from local restaurants (Cliff House Restaurant in San Francisco, Red Lantern Restaurant in Redwood City, La Hacienda in San Carlos, and Bursa Mediterranean Restaurant in San Francisco).  Raffle tickets for the gift certificates were sold at $5.00 each.  By the time the raffle occurred the team had raised over $800 for the Life Cycle participants.  Each participant has to raise $2,500 to participate in the ride which will begin this weekend.

As a company, Pink Spots was happy to be involved in the event and be able to help raise money for such a worthy cause.  AIDS prevention and education is so important within the LGBT Community and within the world community.  I would like to thank the participants of the AIDS Life Cycle for involving themselves in the challenge to fight AIDS and to raise awareness.  I would also like to wish all the riders the best of luck as they embark on their journey, which begins in San Francisco and ends in Los Angeles, CA.

The couple released a statement Thursday following the verdict. In it Tiwonge Chimbalanga shared with supporters and the world a piece of the love he has in his heart for his partner, "I love Steven (Mojenza) so much. If people or the world cannot give me the chance and freedon to continue living with him as my lover, then I am better off to die here in prison. Freedom without him is useless and meaningless."

I understand that Max Muscle is a franchise store and they can be found in many different cities. Regardless, I still consider franchise stores to be local businesses. They are usually small stores that employ 3 to 10 people (excluding restaurant franchises). Franchise employees tend to be well informed about the products and services that are provided and it isn't hard to be in contact with the owner of the location if need be. Anyway, on to what I am getting at...

Unfortunately I have been sick this week. My throat is sore and scratchy, my head is throbbing, and my body feels weak. For the most part I lead a healthy lifestyle so I was surprised when I wasn't able to kick my cold in a day or two. Being sick has really got me thinking about what it really means to be healthy as well as the little bugs we carry in our bodies day in and day out...
