Unfortunately, this killer disease is still existing and no 100% cure for AIDS until now. However, to be treated effectively, AIDS treatment can recently work well only if someone knows they are infected in early stage.

What are the early HIV symptoms?

If you are experienced with unprotected sex, you are probably endangered to be exposed to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV). The very first stage symptoms of being infected is shown diversely in people for example the symptom like a flu which generally occurs within two to six weeks after the infection. Furthermore, early HIV symptoms can be concluded with these following signs:

  • Fever
  • Headache
  • Fatigue
  • Swollen lymph glands
  • Rash

These illnesses are referred by the physician as acute retroviral syndromes or primary HIV infection. Those symptoms commonly disappear within couple weeks to a month. Infected persons are generally misunderstood with their symptoms and think it is just another viral infection while in fact you are actually being very infectious.

Moreover, even if you probably don't have any symptoms, you are still able to spread the virus to others. As soon as the HIV virus enters into your body, your own immune system is also attacked. The virus will multiply within your lymph nodes and gradually start to devastate your helper T cells (CD4 lymphocytes) which are the white blood cells that coordinate your entire immune system.

After a while, you may also start to experience signs and symptoms of later stage of HIV infection, such as:

  • Persistent, unexplained fatigue
  • Soaking night sweats
  • Shaking chills or fever higher than 100 F (38 C) for several weeks
  • Swelling of lymph nodes for more than three months
  • Chronic diarrhea
  • Persistent headaches

If you are infected with HIV, you are also more expected to develop certain cancers, especially Kaposi's sarcoma, cervical cancer and lymphoma even though the improved and modern treatments have reduced the risk of these illnesses.

As soon as you are considered that you might probably have been exposed to HIV, consult to your doctor about your testing options. There is no medicine or vaccine to prevent HIV infection. However, it is possible to protect yourself from infection. If you don't know the HIV Status of your partner, use a proper protection to be great and safe every time you have anal or vaginal sex.
