Depression is a commonly misdiagnosed or under-diagnosed condition, it may manifest itself by means of physical or emotional symptoms. According to the National Institutes of Health and Centers for Disease Control, common symptoms for depression include:

Change in eating or sleeping behaviors that persist for more than one week.
Lack of motivation.
Hyper-reaction to life experiences.
Changes to one’s physical appearance.
Unexplained aches or pains that persist.
Thoughts of suicide.
Lack of energy and enthusiasm for activities one once enjoyed.
Feelings of abandonment or loss of hope.
Feelings of isolation.
Persistent use of alcohol and other substances to self-medicate.
Physical symptoms including lethargy, mystery illnesses, or constant headaches.

When it comes to depression however, the news is good. When treated with prompt care and guidance, more than 90% of patients will recover fully. Depression affects the mind and the body, to treat depression fully one must address both the mind and the body. A pill is not enough; psychotherapy for some patients may not be enough. Depression isn’t about either or; rather, it is an integration of processes both physical and emotional in nature.

Help for depression,work,home,friends
By: CJ | 03-09-2008
seventh day advantist church I have reached the end of my hope and dreams. I am physically disabled, mentally fully functional, physically unable to walk. Everything I have tried has ended up going nowhere, I am in such a downward spiral of depression that I can't move. I need a reason to continue living, I'm 27 and except for my mom, am alone. There are no real time friends, on computer people, no job opportunities, housing is a problem, my mother is not doing well and if she dies, I will be all alone. I need help in finding a purpose to live, a means of supporting myself - given all the health issues - and friends who will actually include me in their lives. Can your church help me?

3 Daughters
By: momhurt | 01-09-2008
Why is my oldest daughter so hurtful and judgemental.  My oldest daughter sayes the most hurtful remarks.  Her younger sister has made some bad choices in her life.  She is now going thru an ugly divorce she has 2 boys 3 and 1 years old.  If falls on me as the Mom to help.  My oldest daughter looks on this as me favoring the grandchildren of the daughter going thru the divorce over her daughter.  I do evething possible for that not to be the case...however my oldest will call and start agruments and continue to complain about the mistakes her sister made and why I or (family) has to continually bail her out....this daughter forgets that she made her own share of mistakes...and I was there for her as well. I get along with her mother in law, but how long this well continue I don't know, because in every argument she will say....Why do you think we ask  (Maggie) the mother in law watch our daughter and not you.  This has been said to me more then one time. (keep in mind I watched her daughter all the way up until my daughter went thru her divorce) now I'm no good enought to watch her now.   Well this has been said to many times...this time I choose to just hang up on her.... I was brought up to help your family thru the hardtimes as well as the goodtimes....my oldest daughter has changed a lot.  My youngest is only 14 although she is not in this mess.  She sees it hurts me which upsets her. Why is she actng like this and why is she so hurtful.
