Dizziness Treatment Information and Prevention

Vertigo, dizziness or lightheadedness, you may be feeling like a weakness, is unstable, loss of balance or vertigo. There are many ways to reduce dizziness.

Get a lot to drink, have regular meals, and get plenty of rest. Some vertigo can be reduced by working with a physiotherapist. Medications can help, and you feel better. The drugs such as antihistamines anticholinergics, benzodiazepines, calcium channel antagonists, and more specifically verapamil and nimodipine also recommeded. Avoid rapid changes in the situation, especially in the supine or standing around from one side to another. Reduce your exposure to the circumstances that precipitated your dizziness, such as stress and anxiety or substances to which you are allergic. Avoid hazardous activities when you are dizzy.

Dizziness Treatment and Prevention Information and Tips

1. GABA modulators, specifically gabapentin and baclofen also recommeded.

2. Neurotransmitter reuptake inhibitors such as SSRI's, SNRI's and Tricyclics

3. Calcium channel antagonists, specifically Verapamil and Nimodipine reduce dizziness.

4. Avoid rapid changes in position, especially from lying down to standing up.

5. Avoid hazardous activities when you are dizzy, such as driving an automobile.
