Foot Care Basics – Super Tips For Healthy, Pain Free Feet

Foot pain is not inevitable although in today's fast paced fashion-obsessed world, it might often appear that way. We demand so much of our feet and often treat them poorly- little surprise then that on occasion problems arise and we perhaps for the first time find ourselves considering just how important our feet are to our general health and well being.

Consider the demands of ordinary  basic daily living, - the round of household chores, walking around your office or neighbourhood, or even walking the dog. Exerts several hundred tons of pressure on your feet over the course of a day. Feet experience more wear and tear in a lifetime than any other part of the body. They are thus more prone to injury.

However with a little care and attention many of these foot problems can be avoided. The following tips will help you give your feet the loving care they deserve.

  • Daily Washing

Establish a regime of daily bathing of your feet. Get right between the toes and under the nails. Be firm but not over zealous in your cleaning.

  • Keep Your Feet Moisturized

This will hep prevent dry, cracked skin – apply a good thick lotion into your feet before you dress and again before you go to bed

  • Fresh Socks Daily

Clean feet tend to be healthy feet – change your socks daily and remember to add a little foot powder to help absorb perspiration

  • Trim Toenails

Remember to cut your toenails straight across in order to avoid ingrown toenails. Smooth any nail edges with an emery board or nail file.

  • Alternate shoes

Give your feet a change by rotating footwear. This will allow shoes to completely dry out and allow the padding time to return to its normal shape. It will also help avoid an over reliance on certain types of footwear.

  • Lose some weight

This will really hep with your foot comfort – excess weight adds considerable strain to your already stressed feet.

Your feet are essential to your overall health and a little care and attention will be rewarded greatly. These are just a few tips that you could utilise but there is much more that you can do to care for your feet.
