Cholesterol Stones - Most people get gallstones because they eat a high cholesterol diet. When there is too much cholesterol in the gallbladder, it turns hard and becomes stones that range in size from minute to golf-ball-sized.Pigment Stones - These are small, dark stones that come from a substance called bilirubin, which is part of the bile that's stored in the gallbladder. Pigment stones form when red blood cells break down.

The main function by the gallbladder is to break down fats in the food you eat so your digestive tract can process them. The gallbladder secretes a substance called bile to accomplish this. Bile is crucial to the digestive process because nothing else breaks down fats and gets them ready to pass through the intestines.

For the most part the gallbladder is not an organ that causes any health problems. However, when it does act up for any reason there will be symptoms of gallbladder problems. Unfortunately, these symptoms are often mistaken for other conditions if they are mild in nature and only in severe cases is it easy to recognize that the gallbladder is the culprit and not some other organ or disease.

The gallbladder is a tiny pear-shaped that is nestled near the liver. The main function of it is to store and produce bile into the small intestine. Bile is employed by the human body to help in the digestion of fats. There are lots of problems and health conditions that are incorporated with the gall bladder like gallstones, swelling of the gall bladder, colic and lots of other problems. It is essential to know the diverse symptoms so that once if you develop them yourself you will know to obtain help.

The treatment of gallbladder problems is generally a simple thing. There are only a couple of things that can be done. If the pain is not that severe and if gallbladder attacks occur only infrequently, then an over the counter pain killing medication will suffice. The best OTC medications to use if the gallbladder is causing problems are paracetamol or acetaminophen, both of which are very common, available in almost every store and inexpensive to purchase.

Herbs can be used to ease the pain and reduce inflammation in the gallbladder. In addition to treating the gallbladder it is also appropriate to look after the liver which will also be under a toxic burden.Boldo (Peumus boldo.) Boldo is a specific for gallbladder problems like stones or inflammation. It is also used when there is visceral pain due to other problems in the liver or the gallbladder.

The gallbladder is nestled underneath the liver in the right portion of the chest cavity. Once you follow the border of your ribcage using you fingers to the right for about three inches, you will be in the common area. The gallbladder is a holding area for the bile produced by the live to aid process the food that was eaten. The nature of bile being dropped into it by the liver is where the things may turn out wrong.

The cause of the sharp attack is a gallstone. It has become stuck in one of the ducts leading out of the gallbladder to the intestines and is blocking the flow of bile. It's like a crink in a garden hose. The pressure causes the pain and it is absolutely no fun. Sometimes it passes on its own, but usually it has to be taken out through a surgical procedure.
