As a parent the worst thing you usually fear is some kind of harm or sickness your child can fall into. You scold yourself for not being careful with your child or chide yourself for not being a good parent. Well the answer to that is some things are just not in your hands and one among them is lice. I'm sure parents will agree with me on that one.

Head lice infestation is very common especially in school among many children and it may not be long before your child can get it, if proper treatment is not given. Head lice are parasites that live by your child's blood in the hair and head scalp which can develop in large numbers. That is most horrifying thing about hair lice, it just few lice to make a large population.

To help you out on how you can detect and treat head lice in children, you need to first of all know few things about lice.

Detection of head lice

When your child goes to school it is a common place for all kinds of sicknesses and worries. The same goes for head lice, it takes just one person to distributed it to others, it can happen when they are playing or handling their friends hair, etc. Like I said in the earlier paragraph it just takes one louse to become into a large population. A female louse can lay around 100 - 350 eggs in during their life cycle you can imagine the speed at which these things grow.

Anyway, the first way to detect or find out if your child has head lice is when your child keeps itching painfully on his/her head for a long time. Usually the lice can easily blend into the hair color and scalp but they can be detected with your eye. You can also have a look using magnifying glasses to see them.

Treatments for head lice

There are many treatments which are available now for this kind of threat. In my opinion the best, and safest way to start the treatment of lice in your child would be through all kinds natural remedies, like use of various Essential oils, Mayonnaise, Vinegar, Herbs and many more. You can also find lice combs which are specially made for killing lice.

You can also use an ordinary comb and when you notice the lice roaming around in it dip it in alcohol to make sure it dies. Before using shampoos just consult your doctor to make sure that product is safe for your child as you don't want to further hurt your child. You can try out as a last resort use of anti lice shampoo which are the safest for your child.

However, to get the right treatment for your child is to ask for advice of your doctor as you will get the best treatment for your child's lice condition. Act fast, don't delay.
