Hypothyroidism is a condition when the thyroid hormone produces insignificant amount of thyroid hormone. With this context, another existing condition that relates with the thyroid hormone production is the hyper thyroidism; this is the reversal state of hypothyroidism where there is excessive production of the thyroid hormone. Many factors seem to predispose this condition. Nutritional factor also plays a key role to determine the activity of the hormone.

There are multiple remedies to overcome the disease. Many kinds of thyroid treatment pills serve to cure the condition. When left untreated, initially the individual can face a large amount of symptoms like dryness in the scalp, hair and finger and toe nails. Dryness of the skin is also one of the most common symptoms. The skin becomes very scaly and itching becomes very common. Not just the physical discomforts but, the person suffering from the thyroid dysfunction can also suffer from psychological disorders. Frequently, those affected with this hormonal imbalance suffer from frequent attacks of mental depression, feeling of insecurity, and a feeling of weakness both mentally and physically. In addition, forgetfulness and absent minded ness are also very common. Unfortunately this can not be taken as the standard symptoms as the symptom greatly vary from one person to other. There is no permanent symptom for thyroid hormone dysfunction. It is better to consult a medical doctor for remedy.

Many kinds of herbal cure are also available in the markets that have promises to cure the disease. But since they are counter medicines and can not guarantee a cure as they are not regulated by drugs it is advisable to consult a doctor for their consumption. How ever, those drugs licensed by the USFDI can be consumed with out any doubt of side effects. Many drugs have been called as the natural replacement for thyroid hormone. It is not safe to consume them unattended by the doctors. However, professionally formulated natural herbal drugs are safer way to handle the situation with out any fear of side effects.

Black cohosh is one of the most leading drugs that helps in the treatment of not only thyroid related problems, but also offers a better cure for menopause problems as well. The formulation of the drug, and the administration time and method has to be consulted with the doctor before its consumption.

St.John's wort could be the drug of choice for the depressed individuals. In addition, cayenne drug supplements helps in increases blood circulation and in turn lessens the cold shocks experienced by the hypothyroidic individuals.

Some herbs that have to be avoided for treating the hypothyroidism are Ginseng, astragalus, bamboo, ginger, lemon balm as they have the tendency to deteriorate the thyroid gland at a faster rate.

However, as the scientists say that certain drugs can cause allergies to some individuals that can still worsen the problem. So it is better to test the drug in a small quantity before actively starting to administer as a drug. For better results a endocrinologist can be contacted before the start.
