Recently the Lancet’s researchers have found that antibiotics have got little or no effect on sinusitis. Only 1 out of 15 patients respond to it. Mostly the virus causing sinus infection are not treated by antibiotics. The report is as follows.
"Antibiotics offer little benefit for patients with acute rhino sinusitis (headache with running nose and sneezing)-like complaints. Antibiotics are not justified even if a patient reports symptoms for longer than 7-10 days."
The research also says that the doctors put the people under more than one antibiotic course which dev elop bacteria resistance in them. Hence antibiotics remain ineffective. Thus the report pushes many to homoeopathy and other alternative medicines which are not only free from side effect but also brings lasting relief.
Symptoms of sinusitis
1. Headache (heavy head); mostly frontal
2. Sneezing early morning
3. Dust allergy
4. Blocked nose
5. Runny nose, eyes
6. Itchy nose, eyes, throat.
7.Tastelessness in tongue.
Causes-
1. Decreased body resistance.
2. Disturbed immune system
3. past medical history of frequent cold
4. Family medical history of respiratory or skin problem.
Triggers-
Dust exposure, cold exposure, cold food intake, physical or mental stress, season (winter mostly)
How sinus infection happens?
Sinuses are the air filled cavities of the skull (head bone).Their function is to filter the inhaled air and to maintain resonance of voice. Normally mucus used to flow through the sinus passages. If the flowing mucus is infected by some bacteria or virus then that causes the above mentioned symptoms. Now you may say then those bacteria and virus are the causes. But the fact is each moment we are exposed to those thousands of bacteria or viruses while breathing in .Still we all are not affected by those always because of our body resistance power which protects us from those virulent affections. Only when our resistance power is diminished we are affected.
Homoeopathy for sinusitis-
Homoeopathy has constitutional treatment approach for sinusitis which not removes present complaints but also prevents recurrence.
Home remedy-
Boil the water till it starts bubbling. Then inhale the steam coming out of it.
