Identifying Symptoms of Clinical Depression

I think that all of you must have heard about Clinical depression. Clinical Depression is a mental disorder that results in bad mood, low self-esteem and loss of interest in otherwise enjoyable activities. This condition affects the psychological and emotional well being of a person to the extent that he/she is not able to enjoy even the simplest of pleasures of life and affects the life other persons around them.

There are various symptoms of clinical and vary greatly among people. Some researches have concluded that clinical depression is genetic and runs in families. Although genes are one factor, they aren't the single cause of depression. Some of the common symptoms include saddened mood, unexplained unhappiness, and loss of enthusiasm, not enjoying any pleasurable activity, reduced sex drive and being socially withdrawn.

Short temper, irritability and other behavioral changes are common with such individuals. The person is usually accompanied with thoughts of committing suicide and a feeling that it is not worth living. Older depressed persons may have cognitive symptoms of recent onset, such as forgetfulness, and a more noticeable slowing of movements. In severe cases, depressed people may have symptoms of psychosis such as delusions or, less commonly, hallucinations, usually of an unpleasant nature.

You may have physical aches and pains which appear to have no physical cause, such as back pain. Often such people are overcome by feelings of worthlessness and not being able to do anything. Many people suffering from this plight will see their disease manifest itself in incurable and mysterious physical ailments such as chronic pain, headaches or digestive problems. Thoughts of death and suicide are common and the feeling that living is no longer worth doing.

Clinical Depression is quite complicate and needs to be taken seriously. One should take immediate help from a psychiatrist or a special doctor for treating it in a proper manner!
