Panic Attacks And Anxiety--7 Top Ways To Fight Them

Many people suffer from unnecessary anxiety which can culminate in panic or anxiety attacks. In a panic attack you suffer from serious anxiety about events you have no control over. Your breathing becomes gasping and labored. Your heart is pounding in your body. You feel as if everything is tightening in on you and you experience a powerful desire to escape from it. Many people unfortunately undergo this terribly unhealthy and scary kind of anxiety attack. We have here seven excellent ways of avoiding and eliminating this problem.

1. Confide in someone regarding your anxiety. Tell a chum, your family or doctor about what is making you anxious and heed their point of view regarding your panic attacks. People are considerably better at viewing the problems of other people and putting them in the right perspective than they are about taking care of their personal problems. You could help the other person also by talking about their problems. This is a powerful way to get a clearer picture of the causes of the anxiety.

 2. Stay away from conversations and arguments with other people which may increase your anxiety. Keep clear of all types of annoyance which may add to your anxiety. If your children or family members have some problems tell them not to talk about them after the dinner hour. Make your evening an anxiety free zone before bedtime and concentrate on relaxation and enjoying the evening.

 3. Put a smile on your face. Even when you don't feel like it, smile. It is extremely hard to feel anxious when you are smiling. Think about anything pleasing and smile. Add some guffawing also by watching very funny comedy movies which really make you guffaw to the max. Laugh out loud and long. Laughter causes the production of endorphins in your body which eliminate stress hormones that contribute to your anxiety. Laughter is one of the very powerful anti-anxiety tools you possess.

 4. Concern yourself only with today's living. Don't try to foretell future problems which may never occur and which you can do nothing about at present. Live for today and say to yourself that you will handle problems to come should they arise. If they crop up in your thinking just get rid of them right away and refuse to worry over them.

 5. Stay totally away from all drinks, foods or medicines which contain caffeine. Coffees, tea, chocolate and some medicines such as Excedrin contain some quantities of caffeine. Caffeine has been proven to result in anxiety and tense feelings. It gives some people "the shakes".

 6. Eat good foods and feel much better. Be sure to eat vegetables, fruit and whole grain cereals. Add to this some good protein containing foods such as lean meats, fish, soy products and lentils. These foods cause your brain to produce serotonin which causes you to relax and feel good.

 7. Take some good exercise. Walk briskly, run, ride a bike--anything you prefer. Exercise is the finest therapy for an anxiety attack. Get away from the problem by exercising vigorously. Exercise also will cause your body to produce endorphins and gets your blood running swiftly to distribute them all through your body. Exercise is the very best therapy for that "Can't breathe" feeling that accompanies an anxiety attack. Just do these seven things and anxiety attacks will bother you no more.
