Some symtoms of ovarian syndrome are obesity, anovulation which leads to irregular menstruation, excessive amounts of masculinizing hormones or androgenic hormones and also acne. The symptoms and severity of the syndrome vary from woman to woman. There are unknown causes of PCOS but diabetes, insulin resistance, and obesity are known to be related with PCOS syndrome.
Other symptoms are weight gain, skin discoloration, high cholesterol levels, high blood pressure, unsual hair growth and distribution and even dandruff. Many of these symptoms may not be present but women with PCOS will always have irregular menstruation periods or don't undergo it at all. These women do not ovulate regularly and so they do not release an egg every month and that eventually leads to irregularity of their monthly menstruation.
Although no one is quite certain of the causes of this disorder, but women with this kind of disorder have a mother or a sister with PCOS but there is not enough proof that this disorder is hereditary.More often, women with PCOS have small cysts found in their ovaries, that's why it is called polycystic ovarian syndrome. There are comparable number of cysts found in women who don't suffer from PCOS. Hence, the cysts themselves do not make up the cause of this predicament.Usually the blood sugar control system in women breaks down for those women sufering from PCOS; hence most researchers believe that these are caused by PCOS development. Women who suffer from PCOS have ovaries that are popular for producing excessive amounts of male hormones called androgen.Extreme production of male hormones may be the outcome of irregularities in insulin production.
