Reducing Cholesterol - Natural Cures To Lower Cholesterol Level

Cholesterol is actually a substance that is produced by our livers for the purpose of aiding in many important physiological functions. However, when we consume foods that accelerate the production of cholesterol in our bodies, it does not all effectively get passed through our bloodstreams and out of our bodies as it should. Instead, it sticks to the walls of our arteries, causing the development of plaque.

Cholesterol level should be always below 200 in any personâ??s body. Hence to maintain the proper level of cholesterol people should maintain a healthy food diet, people should try to avoid food which are rich in fats. People should also maintain a regular exercise regime to help them to reduce the cholesterol level. High cholesterol can be very harmful to human body as it increases the chances of heat attacks or strokes.

If you are interested in reducing cholesterol, the first type of foods that you will want to add are ones which are high in soluble fiber. Citric fruits, berries, oats (including oatmeal and oat bran) and beans are great sources of soluble fiber. Other foods that reduce cholesterol which you will want to incorporate in your diet include leafy green vegetables, whole grains, nuts and all types of fruits.

Soy is very effective in reducing your cholesterol levels. Tofu, soy milk and edamame are all very good sources and are very effective in reducing your cholesterol. You can cook tofu in fat free chicken stock and it will taste like chicken. You can incorporate soy into your diet fairly easily.

These are the foods to eat to lower cholesterol such as oatmeal and oat bran because it contains soluble fiber, which reduces your low-density lipoprotein (LDL) or the bad cholesterol. And also soluble fiber can also be found in such foods as kidney beans, apples, pears, psyllium, barley and prunes. Because of the soluble fiber it helps to reduce the absorption of cholesterol in your intestines.

Beans and legumes are very high in soluble fiber. Something as simple as adding just 4 ounces, or about ½ cup, of kidney beans, black beans, lima beans or other dried beans each day can reduce your cholesterol. You may want to substitute beans for a serving of meat at one of your meals, thereby reducing your meat (saturated fat) intake with something healthy.

Cholesterol levels can also be lowered in addition by exercise, diet and weight loss. Pharmaceutical companies have recently become advertised prescription drugs that lower cholesterol, and they are now available on all pharmacy shelves. However, it is important that you note that these medications have some serious side effects such as myopathy, reductions in the CoQ10 levels which generally lead to heart disease, and in some rare cases - a fatal condition called rhabdomyaolysis.
