Shoulder Rehabilitation - How to Recover a Shoulder From Trauma Or Syndrome

A shoulder rehabilitation program can be of great benefit for recovery times after an injury or while affected by a condition. The shoulder joint is the most complex joint in the human body. The rotator cuff is made up of 4 different tendons attached to 3 different bones, shoulder blade, collar bone, and arm top. The tendons slide over a bursa to avoid them getting inflamed and worn out by rubbing against the shoulder bones. Finally a membrane covers and protects the rotator cuff tendons like a capsule.

This complicated structure can occasionally malfunction or break following repetitive stress or an accident. Dislocated shoulders and torn rotator cuffs need to follow a period of rest to allow the tendons to heal first, after which a rehabilitation program will improve the chances of a speedy recovery. The same applies for all the main shoulder ailments not caused by trauma or injury that happen spontaneously to a wide range of the population.

Such conditions come in different forms, but the main ones are: on one hand the Frozen Shoulder, also called Adhesive Capsulitis, on the other the Bursitis, Tendonitis, and Impingement Syndrome group, all strictly related. The frozen shoulder is the one that usually takes longer to heal and is the most disabling for its unwelcome feature of restricting range of motion in the arm affected. The Impingement Syndrome, so called for the clicking, pinching feeling in the shoulder, does not restrict movement but it is painful and can grow worse if left untreated.

Traumas, tears and different syndromes must follow a professional shoulder rehabilitation program for best results. Because of the delicate and complex structure of the rotator cuff, only someone with professional knowledge can give the right guidance as to what to perform and how. Generally speaking all stretching exercises for shoulder rehabilitation are better performed on a daily basis. The key is to gradually break through the dull pain progressively and regularly. This could save the sufferer months of misery and inactivity.
