Tennis elbow treatment exercises treat the injury and help to prevent it from becoming a chronic condition. Exercising is very useful both before the injury occurs to prevent it and after the injury to heal it. Exercising basically improves flexibility, endurance and strength of the body in general and specifically the injured elbow.
This is an injury to the outside tendons and muscles. It happens due to overuse and repetitive movement. Exercises for tennis elbow help to remove the weakness so that the elbow isn't strained to compensate.
Before starting tennis elbow treatment exercises it is necessary to allow the injury to heal. Absence of pain or very little pain is a sign for you to begin exercising. If you exercise when there is pain, inflammation, or restricted movement from stiffness you will be doing more harm to yourself than good. Your injury will aggravate further and cause more pain.
After your pain eases somewhat or becomes bearable you may have to do exercises to stretch and strengthen the muscles in the forearm. In addition to physical therapy you may be required to wear a strap or brace to reduce stress on the injured tissue.
Here are a couple of stretching exercises which will to help to heal the injury fast:
Gentle stretching exercises improve wrist flexion, extension and rotation. You can start with extending the elbow without flexing it to increase the amount of stretch as required. Hold the stretch for 20-30 seconds. Repeat this 5-10 times twice a day. Do not over-stretch to the point of pain.
Prayer stretch is another simple exercise which can be performed with ease. To do this exercise put your palms together in front of the chest with fingers together. Hold the fingers just under chin. Keeping palms together, lower hands towards waist, stopping when you feel a mild stretch under forearms. Hold for 20 seconds and repeat 4 times.
Tennis elbow treatment exercises are one of the natural ways to treat this condition permanently provided it is done at the right time and manner. To prevent recurrence of the injury it would be best to continue with your exercises program even after your injury heals completely.
