Stop Biting Nails – Do It For Yourself!

If you struggle with nail biting, your mother has probably told you to stop biting nails all of your life!  Most of the time it is easier said than done.  You know that you should stop biting nails, but it is a very tough habit to quit.  Nail biting is not a habit that you can quit by avoidance – you bring your nails with you everywhere you go!  The temptation is always there.  Some people are such chronic nail biters that they aren't even aware of when they are nibbling their nails.  If you fall into this category you will have to make a conscious effort to be attentive of what you are doing at all times.  Even a chronic nail biter can successfully stop biting nails if they put enough effort into it.

Appearance is a big issue for most women.  The only thing that people notice more than your hands is your face.  That makes the appearance of the hands very important to most women.  Well manicured hands are noticed by all and make a statement about who you are.  To make a good impression with your hands it is imperative that you stop biting nails!

Many women say that they are more confident when they feel that they look good.  Confidence will take you places that you want to go in life, especially in the work place.  Self-confidence will help you capture the attention of everyone in the room when delivering a presentation.  It will also give you the boost you need during an important interview.  Set yourself up for success and stop biting nails.

A great way to stop biting nails is through the use of chewing gum.  Many men and women have achieved marvelous results by using this simple technique.  This enjoyable method allows you to stop biting nails by keeping your mouth busy chewing on something else.  The other benefit of this method is that you will have fresh breath all day long!  If you don't like gum you can use mints instead.  Always use sugar free gum and mints while implementing this technique.  No one wants to have to visit the dentist more than is absolutely necessary!

Some employ a negative association technique to help them with their nail biting.  All this technique requires is a rubber band and discipline.  Whenever you catch yourself biting your nails give yourself a little snap with the rubber band.  Soon your subconscious will begin to connect the dots between nail biting and an unpleasant experience.  Others find that rewards work much better for them than punishment.  If you are one of these people you will want to make goals for yourself.  Reward yourself whenever you reach a goal.
