Three Flu Homeopathic Remedies

There are several homeopathic remedies for the flu. It can be a quagmire of choices, so as an educator of homeopathy, I find it’s easiest to break them down into smaller groups of three or four. Let’s start with the top three most common remedies for the flu.

Baptisia is a good remedy choice when the person looks drunk. A besotted face is the way the old books describe this appearance. There’s an appearance of stupidity and exhaustion. The illness comes on rapidly and the person presents in a confused manner with a good deal of tossing about with his arms and legs in all different directions; almost messy-looking.

Allium cepa, like the onion from which it is made, causes the eyes and nose to have a copious amount of clear runny mucus. It can excoriate the nose as it runs out. There is a cough that is tickling and a rawness that runs from the throat down to the chest. The person often has pain and sensations more on the left side. The person who needs this remedy is one who has been exposed to cold, damp wind.

Gelsemium is what I call the “D” remedy. It has drowsiness, dusky face and dragging demeanor. This person has no thirst, wants to be left alone and sometimes gets sick after an emotional ordeal. The face looks diffused with intense exhaustion and inability to move for the prostration.

These are the recommendations of the great medical minds of the homeopathic world. Use these directions with knowledge that if utilized accordingly, it is very likely the results will be satisfying. All of the above remedies are best used in a potency of 30 and administered approximately every two to three hours. If symptoms are severe, then give every 1-2 hours. As soon as there is improvement, don’t repeat. Wait and watch. Another remedy may come into play. However, if the first remedy is well chosen, there will often be no need for change. Homeopathy will serve you well in the care of the flu as long as you take the time to show it respect.

Homeopathy is often called the rational medicine. Homeopathic remedies are gentle and have been regulated by the FDA since its inception in the 1940’s. Unlike modern drugs, never has a homeopathic medication been removed from the market by the FDA. What methods of medicine can boast such a record? Homeopathy has the ability to grant us more personal empowerment and responsibility via an elegantly simple method of health care. It has been practiced for nearly two centuries and has withstood the relentless test of time and the vicissitudes of many attacks because it works. There is a timeless quality to real truths. For colds and flu, or any other ill, there is no better way than the polite and gentle, yet powerful, way of homeopathy.

The skin is considered one of the body’s most important organs. Its function is to eliminate and cleanse waste from the other areas of the body.
