The largest nerve is the sciatic nerve. When there is irritation of the sciatic nerve, there can a lot of pain and also some numbness in the buttocks and leg. The sciatica pain can start in different areas like the lower back or the very bottom of your buttocks. It can then definitely be felt on one side and in the leg.  You may also feel numbness in the toes of the foot and radiating pain from the top to the bottom of the leg or vice versa. There can also be burning pain that is located on the side of the foot or near the lower region of your rear close to the leg.

You may surprisingly have no pain in your back, The source of sciatic pain can be a pinched nerve in the buttocks or even a herniated disc. Rest and sciatica pain exercises can help to relieve the pressure on the sciatic nerve and therefore alleviate pain. Most medical doctors will pursue this route before they consider surgery.

To keep up good circulation and keep your body as flexible as possible, low impact aerobic exercises are ideal. Doing this kind of exercise is also a great way to prevent stress fractures. Stress fractures can actually be a cause of sciatic pain. Any sciatica pain exercise that leads to a strengthening of the back, core and abdomen are ideal because they build overall strength. It helps prevent further injuries too.

Having a consistent active routine is perhaps the best sciatica pain exercise you can do. Whether you suffer from sciatic pain or any other condition, regular exercise is the best way to stay in top shape. For those afflicted with this kind of pain, any regular routine that incorporates aerobic and strength training is an ideal way to avoid any type of back pain.
