The change in the serotonin that our body produces can attribute to the migraine attacks we may be having lately. This particular bodily fluid has an effect on the blood vessels. When the level of serotonin is high enough, this causes the blood vessels in the brain to shrink. If we don't produce enough, then the blood vessels swell. When blood vessels swell, migraine is triggered. One of the first drugs that have been especially produced as one of the popularmigraine medicines is called Triptans. They are available currently in drug stores.

They are able to maintain the serotonin levels in the brain at a moderate point; therefore the blood vessels in the brain can ease up and shrink to their normal size. The triptans-composingmigraine medicines have been actually proven successful to cure migraine. There are additional things that are great about these medicines like being helpful for those who have a combination of tension and migraine headaches, preventing headaches that accompany women during their menstrual cycle or when they have dysmenorrhea, and they also do not cause the person taking it to feel drowsy. One example of this medicine is Imitrex. This drug is famous not just for treating the throbbing pain in the head but also prevents other migraine symptoms like vomiting and being ultra-sensitive to light and sound. Midrin is also a popularly prescribed drug by doctors that has an ingredient that relaxes the body, therefore relaxes the blood vessels in the brain.

Much prescription drugs and over the counter migraine medicines such as Excedrin Migraine contains caffeine as a frequently used ingredient. This component makes the pain relievers 40% more successful in treating headaches. The caffeine does not treat the headache but makes your body's absorption of the pain relievers much quicker. Advil and Motrin are also found effective to help someone who is experiencing migraine as they both contain ibuprofen. There are still other medicines out there like aspirin, acetaminophen, and naproxen that help alleviate the pain that the patient with migraine experiences. They may not be widely advertised but they too have healing properties for migraine.
