Yeast Infections in Men - What Are the Symptoms of Yeast Infections in Men?

Posted: Sep 25, 2009 |Comments: 0 |

Believe it or not, men can get yeast infections too the same as women. Yet is is surprising just how many men do not realise this. Also, not many men know of the symptoms of yeast infections in men and as a result have no idea what to look out for.

Whether you are a man or a woman, a yeast infection is caused by a fungus called Candida. This fungus is not normally an issue and our body can keep it under control nicely, but sometimes it grows rapidly and this is when you get a yeast infection. Yeast infections in men and women usually occur around the genital area or the mouth.

So, if men can get yeast infections, what are the symptoms?

1.) Rash - If you notice any red or inflamed areas on or around the penis then this could be a sign that a yeast infection is developing. Obviously there could be other reasons for this redness but if you have this along with some of the other symptoms then it is a good chance it is a yeast infection.

2.) Itching - As with the rash, itching is also a classic symptom of yeast infections in men. If your penis becomes unusually itchy, then this is something to keep an eye on.

3.) Discharge - Men can also experience unusual discharge. This can come in the form of a semi-solid 'cheesy' looking substance that can build up under the foreskin and/or around the tip of the penis. Another typical symptom of yeast infections in men and shouldn't be overlooked or ignored.

If you are experiencing any one or more of these symptoms then it there it is highly likely that you have a yeast infection. Now, a lot of men don't take this seriously and it is considered 'unmanly' to acknowledge it or treat it, but a lot of the best treatments for yeast infections in men are entirely natural and don't require going to the drug store for any over the counter medication.

The problem with drugs and ointments, is that these typically only treat the symptoms of yeast infections and don't actually treat the cause. This means that you may well succeed in clearing up your current outbreak, but because the cause of the infection has not been treated, it will just flare up again in the near future.

By all means, use drugs and over the counter remedies to relieve the symptoms of your yeast infection and stop the itching and soreness, but I fully recommend you look into a natural, permanent cure for yeast infections in men and stop them coming back for good!
